Flowers are reproducive organs

Members of palmaceae family produce flowers, which are the reproductive organs of flowering plants. The flowers (inflorescence) are borne on a panicles or spikes at the top of the trunk that are surrounded for protection by spathes. These bracts or spathes become woody at maturity.

The flowers are usually very small, greenish and unremarkable. Some species of palm trees flower themselves to death, for example Fishtail palms.

Flowering Palm Trees

Palm trees are flowering tropical plants. They usually have insignificant and small flowers. Palm trees generally are monoecious, but produce unisexual flowers, two sexes on the same palm tree. And females usually bear fruits. Male plants contribute pollen for fertilization.
